Wired City Reconnected events are the result of research and development work undertaken by Alba Associates over the last 10 years, whilst working with the Digital industries sector through various European Funded projects (ERDF and ESF). These events were originally created to complement business support work undertaken by Alba Associates.

Wired City Reconnected fully supports and contributes towards meeting the recommendations within the BERR Consultation Paper: Creative Britain: New Talents for the New Economy (February 2008). It reiterates that creative businesses are more likely to collaborate and form partnerships than in other sectors. Creative business development depends on this kind of process, where ideas and innovation emerge; Wired City Reconnected events offer such potential.
